Lucy Letha Dell Blankenship was born on March 6, 1938 in Gill, AR to Rose Lee Griffin-Blankenship and Randle Blankenship. They both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, William Marshbanks.
Letha depart this life on June 22, 2017 at Cornerstone Hospital in Little Rock, AR.
Letha was joined in holy matrimony to Huge Vanpelt Sr. on July 1, 1956. To this union seven children were born; to of which preceded her in death: Hugh Vanpelt Jr. (1978) and Elizabeth Williams (2005).
Letha obtained her education in Lee County School District. She began working for the Lee County School District in the school’s cafeteria in !975. She was promoted to cafeteria manager, and she maintained this position until her retirement in 2012.
Letha professed a hope in Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Williams Temple Church of God in Christ. She diligently served as the church’s secretary for many years, and she was a member of the Mother’s Board.
Letha was preceded in death by one sister, Millie Harold, one brother, Randle Blankenship Jr.; and two grandsons: Justin Vanpelt and Mario Vanpelt.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years, Hugh Vanpelt, Sr. of Gill , AR; five children: Calvin (Darlene) Blankenship of Marianna, AR, Rosemary Allen of Gill, AR, Raymond (Carol) Vanpelt Sr. of Philadelphia, PA, Darlene Buchanan of Marianna, AR, and Carl (Katrice) Vanpelt Sr. of Gill, AR; nineteen grandchildren: Calvin (Latasha) Jones, Amon (Tamara) Blankenship, Lekerio Williams, LaRissa Williams, Anita Neal, Jeremy Allen, Tiffany Allen, Angelo Brown Sr., Raymond Vanpelt Jr., Andrea Buchanan, Astazzia Buchanan, Tawarren Tittle, Tyrone (April) Allison, Carl Vanpelt Jr., Carlisha Vanpelt, Broderick Vanpelt, Janiece Jones, Montreel Jones and Shaketta Davis Vanpelt; 29 great-children; 1 great grand-daughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
