Artis Mitchell was born to the late William Thomas Mitchell and Peoria Churn Mitchell in Memphis, TN. He was their third born child.
Artis attended Cumming Elementary School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He began his career as a truck driver and also worked building homes.
He confessed his salvation at a early age under the leadership of Bishop Sam Blount. Artis was believer in Jesus Christ.
He departed his earthly life on March 25, 2017. He leaves two daughters, Shannon (Kendrick) Whitehead and Samantha (Jamison) Mitchell Rhodes; nine siblings, Velma Mitchell, William Thomas Mitchell, Patricia Mitchell, Harvey Mitchell, Gail Mitchell, Latrell Mitchell, Rita Mitchell and Alfreada Mitchell; six grandchildren, three grandsons; three granddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends.
